Willett Family Estate 7 Year Bourbon #3884 "Happy Accidents"

D&M TASTING NOTES:  Aromas of spiced pear, wood, cinnamon, baking spices, graham cracker, honey, eucalyptus, menthol, cooked peaches, and nuts lead to a palate which offers an initial hit of fresh bright peppermint, red hots and wood. After adding a few drops of water and with time in the glass, hints of spiced peach cobbler, caramel and toasty notes emerge. (65% ABV/130 Proof; Just over 7 years of aging)

BACKGROUND INFO: "When Kyle, David and I were down in Kentucky picking barrels this spring, we were most blown away by the barrel samples that Drew Kulsveen, the Master Distiller at Willett, pulled for us. As we sat with him, we had one sample set from a special Bourbon Mash Bill that we absolutely loved (more on that in the months to come). We also had another set from their high-rye Bourbon Mash Bill that was amazing. Initially we were told we could only have one barrel at most this year. We had a fun full morning of a spirited back and forth between us about which barrel we wanted for you all. In order to better fit the parameters of the club, we chose the younger bourbon first. Then happy fortune struck– maybe just to get us out of the room and on to lunch, Drew let us have both!!

We really couldn’t believe our luck that we were able to sneak out of Willett with not just one, but TWO barrels and are ecstatic to share this “Happy Accident” with you. We chose 6-year old barrels as we felt it was a perfect combination of amazing flavor and a more accessible price point than some other pricier Willett Single Barrels. By the time they bottled this barrel it had reached 7 years of age, so is a little bit pricier, but we feel it is still worth every penny." - JONATHAN POWERS, D&M CO-OWNER
