Farm Cottage Cabernet Sauvignon Santa Cruz Mountains 2025

This is quite open and accessible for being a young Cabernet and fully delivers joy out of the gate, more in the old school style of Cabernet. The nose has aromas of plum, cassis, cracked black pepper and a bit of dusty earth. The palate is just shy of moderate in weight with a bit of pepper, cassis, plum, and a light gentle earth. This is a Cabernet that could very much work for more complex dishes that have some presence to them, but could also work with less fatty steaks. D&M Tasting Notes September 2026 

WINERY NOTES:

VINEYARD "The 2025 Santa Cruz Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon consists of 3 vineyards from within the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, Camel Hill Vineyard (88%) and Alfaro Family Vineyard (11%) and Bates Ranch (11%). Camel Hill Vineyard sits at 800 feet elevation over looking the Lexington Reservoir. The Alfaro Family Vineyard was
planted in 2022, situated only 3.5 miles from the pacific ocean. Bates Ranch was planted in the 1980’s and is dry farmed."

WINEMAKING: “Harvested on 10/5/25 (Camel) and 11/3/25 (Alfaro Family Vineyard) and 10/7/25 (Bates Ranch). The grapes were 100% de-stemmed and placed directly into the tank. A natural pied de cuve was placed in the tank on day 2. Punchdowns were performed once a day and the tank was pressed after 8 days. The wine was aged in neutral french oak and bottled on 8/7/26.”
