COS Frappato 2024

This comes from the relatively cool 2024 vintage in Vittoria, an area that we have heard is close to farming in North Africa. The nose opens with lifted sweet cherry, black flowers, and mixed spices. The palate is just shy of moderate in weight with red berry backed by pale plums, flowers and just there spices. MK D&M Tasting Notes July 2026

TASTING: “Bright red. Floral red berries and aromatic herbs on the nose and in the mouth. Enters bright and juicy with a fresh floral red berry finish that is nicely persistent. A lovely easygoing red.”

FARMING: “Biodynamic”

VINIFICATION: “Organically grown estate grapes; Hand harvested; Spontaneous fermentation on indigenous yeasts and aging in concrete vats for 8 months.”

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: “Giusto Occhipinti of COS is a benchmark producer in the Vittoria appellation of Sicily, and certainly one of the most important and influential producers in all of Sicily if not Italy as a whole. The winery was founded in 1980 by three friends, Giambattista Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti, and Cirino Strano. The initials of their last names form the winery’s name.”
