Popelochum "Exuberant" Pinot Noir San Benito County 2024

WINERY NOTES:

It has been said that Pinot Noir is the "heartbreak grape" and no love-sick swain has been more heartsick than RG [Randall Graham] in his long-time growmance (sic) with the ever elusive Pinot. Several years back, ever trying to please his coy mistress, RG blanketed the densely planted Pinot block with straw mulch, inadvertently creating an ideal habitat for monstrously large, voracious wood rats, who fiercely decimated the plantation. Rat-a-tat-a-chewy, we began again. The 2023 vintage saw a substantial number of younger vines come into bearing, producing a slightly lighter, fruitier rendition of this elegant variety. This wine was neither fined nor filtered. Approximately 170 cases were produced.x
