Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon 25-0819 - In the Fullness of Time

TASTING: This D&M private barrel selection is an 8 year old barrel from Floor 4 of Warehouse CN-E in Lawrenceburg. It stood out to us there and is even better in the bottle.  The nose is a combination of fruit and floral with just a touch of sawdust, notes of orange zest and jasmine marry nicely with the barrel. On the palate there are more tastes of citrus fruit, baking spice, candied ginger and a hint of black tea.The finish is earthy and rich with a smoothness well below its proof.  We hope that you enjoy it as much as we  do!

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Russell’s Reserve is a more premium bottling line from the Wild Turkey distillery in Lawrenceburg, a distillery that is synonymous with bourbon. Russell’s Reserve began when master distiller Eddie Russell first crafted a small-batch product to celebrate his father Jimmy Russell’s 45 years of service as master distiller at Wild Turkey. While this project began as a special tribute to Jimmy Russell, it has evolved to be a full brand created by Eddie Russell to honor his father Jimmy and now run by Jimmy’s grandson, Bruce Russell. While the brand began in 1998, they didn’t start offering the 110-proof single-barrel select option until 2013. Russell’s Reserve is about as classic a bourbon flavor as you can get, and I have loved most of the single barrel expressions I’ve had the chance to try. Not only do these tend to be delicious bourbons, but also a great value coming in at far less than many other single barrels.  We were very excited in advance for this selection and it did not disappoint; we were given 10 barrels to choose from, and one stood out far above the rest. So we chose that barrel and named it “In The Fullness of Time” after our wine buyer Michael Kennel who both loves Russell’s and is here to remind us that with time and patience, great things can come.
